Rodrygo and Vinicius Junior were instrumental in helping Real Madrid clinch the Copa Del Rey ahead of their clash against Pep Guardiola's Manchester City.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has praised his Copa Del Rey Brazilian heroes, Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo Goes after they inspired Los Blancos to a first Copa Del Rey title since 2014 in their 2-1 win over Osasuna in Seville on Saturday evening

Ancelotti sealed his third title of the season, ahead of taking on Manchester City, in a crunch Champions League showdown next week, to ease some of the pressure on his position.

His opening strike came right at the start, created by his friend Vinicius Junior. With it, he became Madrid’s youngest scorer (at 22 years and 117 days) in a Copa del Rey final in the 21st century.

After the Pamplona-based side equalised, Rodrygo was there for his team again, finishing smartly from a rebound after Toni Kroos’ shot.

“They have made the difference tonight. Vinicius in the first half was very unbalancing for the opposition”, as per reports from Marca.

“Rodrygo scored two goals, and at this moment, those two make the difference for us.”

Rodrygo is now up to 16 goals and 11 assists across all competitions, in his best tally as a Real Madrid player, and both players are in hot form going into the clash against City.

“I don’t know where his ceiling is,” the Italian said of Rodrygo. “He is elegant, moves well and scores goals. He’s making spectacular progress. The second half didn’t start well for us, we suffered, but Rodrygo changed the dynamic.”

Real Madrid’s sole focus will now be on the Champions League with Barcelona just one win away from clinching their first La Liga title since 2014.

Ancelotti’s side host Getafe, in between the two semi final matches against City, and the league trophy could already be at the Camp Nou.
