Jordan Henderson, the star midfielder from England, has struck a deal with Al Ettifaq, marking the end of his chapter in the Saudi Pro League.

The former Liverpool ace is now on the verge of a sensational switch to Ajax, as insiders close to the negotiations reveal.

This big move comes as Henderson wraps up the termination of his three-year contract with Al Ettifaq, a deal he signed just last summer. What's more, this exit comes at no transfer cost.

Henderson's Saudi Exit: A Surprise Twist

After a short yet impactful stint in the Saudi Pro League, Henderson is all set for a dramatic return to European football as reported by the Athletic.

The 33-year-old, known for his prowess on the field, ended his 12-year tenure with Liverpool last July, embarking on a surprising journey to Saudi Arabia.

Despite facing criticism, Henderson stood by his decision, aiming to “achieve something special and build a club and league.”

In his time with Al Ettifaq, under the management of his former Liverpool teammate Steven Gerrard, Henderson showed his class.

He featured in 17 SPL games, delivering four assists and proving his worth in the midfield. However, this adventure is coming to an abrupt end as he gears up for a new challenge with Ajax.

Ajax Eager for Henderson's Midfield Mastery

While Ajax had a tough run in 2023, finishing third in the Eredivisie, their worst since 2008-09, they are now rejuvenating under interim head coach John Van‘t Schip.

With Henderson's imminent arrival, the Amsterdam giants are looking to bolster their midfield strength, eyeing a better position in the league.

Henderson himself is excited about this new chapter. He expressed his enthusiasm for joining forces with Gerrard in a new league and culture, viewing it as a refreshing challenge.

“It’s nice to feel wanted," Henderson remarked, acknowledging the value both Gerrard and the club placed on his experience and potential contribution.
