Mauritanian referee chosen for AFCON 2023 final between Nigeria and Cote d'Ivoire, bringing experience and fairness to the game.

Mauritanian referee Dahane Beida has been entrusted with the crucial role of overseeing the final showdown of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Scheduled for Sunday at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan, this eagerly awaited clash will witness the host nation Cote d'Ivoire, locking horns with Nigeria in a bid for continental supremacy.

At just 32, Beida will take centre stage as the on-pitch referee for what promises to be a gripping encounter, marking his third appearance in this year's AFCON tournament.

His commendable track record includes officiating notable matches such as the group stage duel between Egypt and Mozambique, which ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw, and the Round of 16 clash where Angola secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Namibia.

Assisting Beida in his duties will be Emiliano Dos Santos from Angola and Diana Chicotesha from Zambia, while Morocco's Bouchra Karboubi will serve as the fourth official.

The crucial role of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) will be assumed by Mahmoud Ashour from Egypt, with Rivet Maria Pakuita from Mauritius providing support as the Assistant VAR.

Beida's extensive refereeing experience spans prestigious competitions, including the U17 World Cup in New Zealand last year and the final leg of the CAF Confederation Cup 2022/23 between USM Alger and Young Africans in Algiers.

His proficiency has also been showcased in various other tournaments such as the CAF Champions League and the African Football League. Notably, Beida played a pivotal role in last year's African Nations Championship held in Algeria.

With both Nigeria and Cote d'Ivoire fervently pursuing glory, the stakes are high. Nigeria seeks to clinch their fourth AFCON title, while Cote d'Ivoire eyes their third championship victory.

As anticipation mounts and the continent holds its breath, all eyes will be on Mauritanian referee Dahane Beida as he leads the charge in ensuring a fair and thrilling conclusion to the AFCON 2023 journey.
