Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman could finally be on his way out of Atalanta after the club agreed to lower their asking price.
Atlético Madrid have emerged as one of the primary contenders to sign Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman after Atalanta significantly lowered their financial demands.
Lookman, who was one of the standouts at the just-concluded AFCON in Morocco, has made no secret of his desire to leave Atalanta.
Ademola Lookman to Atletico Madrid?
According to transfer expert Ekrem Konur, the Bergamo-based club has slashed their valuation to €35 million, a drastic reduction from the €50 million-plus figure that derailed a move to Inter Milan last summer.
With Lookman recently returning from a bronze-medal campaign at the 2026 AFCON in Morocco, he has reportedly reiterated his desire to move on, prompting Atalanta to negotiate to avoid his value depreciating before his contract expires in 2027.
While Galatasaray, home of Victor Osimhen, who has been crucial in convincing Lookman to make the move, and Fenerbahce remain in the hunt, Diego Simeone is said to be a long-term admirer of the 28-year-old.
The Atlético boss reportedly views Lookman’s directness and tactical versatility, operating as a second striker or on either wing—as the ideal "spark" for his attacking rotations.
Despite a slight dip in output during a season clouded by transfer speculation, Lookman's pedigree remains elite. During his career at Atalanta, he has contributed 55 goals and 27 assists across 136 appearances.
He famously solidified his big-game reputation as the 2024 CAF Player of the Year, cementing his legacy with a historic Europa League final hat-trick.
Even in the current 2025/26 campaign, Lookman has slowly returned to form, hitting 6 goals and 6 assists for club and country, including standout performances in the Champions League and for Nigeria's Super Eagles in Morocco.
