As part of Mikel Arteta's ongoing rebuild, a number of prominent players may leave the Gunners during the transfer season.

Arsenal is expected to have a busy summer as they get ready for their first Champions League season since 2017. As Mikel Arteta continues to build his team, the Gunners are looking to let go of a few players.

There are a number of players in north London whose futures at the club are limited, with the likes of Nicolas Pepe and Rob Holding and some promising youngsters also expected to leave at the end of the season.

Pulse Sports takes a look at some of the players who could move on to a new pasture in the summer transfer window.

Players expected to leave in the summer

Nicolas Pepe

Having spent the previous season on loan with Nice, Arsenal's club-record signing Nicolas Pepe has just one year remaining on his contract.

As it stands, the Ivorian does not have a future at Arsenal, thus the team will attempt to permanently part ways with him this summer.

Pepe was signed for $85 million in August 2019 and has since then not lived up to the expectations at Arsenal. The Gunners will look to offload him at the end of the season and create space for other new players coming in.

Given his high salary, finding a buyer will be incredibly challenging, therefore resolving the issue won't be simple.

Rob Holding

Rob Holding is the longest-serving player at Arsenal after joining the club in 2016 during Arsene Wenger’s era.

The Englishman has struggled to cement a place in Arteta’s side and when called upon during the injury crisis he has struggled to help his team out.

Although the club cherishes the defender's leadership and he is well-liked by his teammates, Holding's performances during the end of the season brought to light the centre-back's shortcomings.

Jakub Kiwior has since taken Holding's place, and with a new centre-back possibly joining the Arsenal squad this summer, Holding may be replaced as part of the team's continuous roster construction.

Charlie Patino

Charlie Patino, a promising midfielder for Arsenal, is expected to depart the team after discussions with the club.

The youngster has an impressive loan stint at Blackpool which has triggered him to request for more playing time when he returns to Arsenal. However, it has been decided that the Hales End product can transfer to look for a regular first-team in the summer.

The 19-year-old is already drawing a lot of interest from clubs both in England and overseas. Patino's agent will now consult with Arsenal to determine the best course of action for the youngster.
