The Danish side will partner with their sister club in Nigeria after the IT billionaire bought the highest stake to become the new owner.

Sporting Lagos owner Shola Akinlade has added a new football club to his assets by buying into a Danish club.

Akinlade is the new owner of Danish side Aarhus Fremad after he bought a 55% stake to take control of the second division club.

The club made this known in a statement on Tuesday afternoon and are set to partner with Sporting Lagos in future.

"Shola Akinlade, 38, from Nigeria, has bought 55 percent of the 2nd division club," the club stated in a statement. "He now lives in North Carolina, USA, after becoming a billionaire selling an IT company."

Shola to pay Fremad's bills

Following the acquisition, the club is excited to have a new owner who will pay their bills and wipe off their debts.

The Danish side added in a statement but is quick to add that there will be no major changes at the club following Shola's arrival.

"It's no secret that it has probably cost a bit of my otherwise positive energy that I have had to transfer this money continuously to keep the club going," Lars Kruse, club CEO said.

"This is one of the worst things you can experience in a company when liquidity is at its limit. It's terrible."

"It's actually so boring that there won't be any changes," he added. "The plan is that we continue with the setup we have. There are, of course, some investments that are right on the right foot; Some fitness equipment, some GPS trackers on the players and so on."

Shola's Sporting Lagos

Shola, co-owner of IT firm Paystack, established the club, Sporting Lagos in his native city of Lagos last year.

The club plays in the second-tier Nigerian league, the NNL, and in future, it will be a cooperation club with Aarhus Fremad.

Sporting Lagos are set to partner with their newest sister Aarhus Fremad.

Sporting Lagos are one of the privately owned clubs looking to change Nigerian football and will look to gain promotion to the NPFL.

"He has chosen to say that with some of the money he has earned, he wants to start his own football team," Kruse said of Shola.

"He sees football a bit like we do in Fremad as a platform for experiences where you can do something for the society around you."
