Like Michael Jordan and LeBron James, Kevin Durant becomes the latest basketball player to have a lifetime contract with Nike.

Nike has announced that Kevin Durant has signed a lifetime contract, effective Friday, April 28, 2023.

The two-time NBA champion is the newest brand ambassador who will be rocking with the Swoosh for all eternity, joining the likes of LeBron James and Michael Jordan.

Since his entry into the league as a rookie with the Seattle Supersonics in 2007, KD has served as a brand ambassador for the Beaverton-based sportswear giant.

He has created 15 signature silhouettes since this alliance was established and has worked to promote basketball on a global level.

Through his Durant Family Foundation, he has renovated numerous public courts as part of the partnership, and he has developed the next generation of basketball players through his own EYBL team, Team Durant.

The elite Phoenix Suns forward intends to use his new contract to grow his humanitarian and community-focused initiatives while continuing to promote his brand through the release of footwear and merchandise.

Together with Nike, Durant has released 15 signature shoes, and he recently announced on his Instagram page that a 16th is currently being developed.

Speaking about the lifetime deal, Durant said, “When I first signed with Nike, I couldn’t have dreamed of how far we’d go in this partnership.

“We’ve done amazing work creatively and philanthropically. We’ve traveled the world together and built a business that will now last forever.

"I’m excited for the future and honored to be in rare company with this deal.”

The Slim Reaper as Durant is known played a massive role for the Phoenix Suns as they eliminated the Los Angeles Clippers in the NBA Western Conference playoffs first round and progressed to take on the Denver Nuggets next.

Like Jordan, Durant and James will have the opportunity to make money with Nike long after they retire because to their contracts.
