38-year-old James scored 38 points to become the NBA all-time scoring leader as the Los Angeles Lakers suffered defeat to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the early hours of Wednesday, February 8, 2023.

After breaking the record, James was honored by Abdul-Jabbar and NBA commissioner Adam Silver.

One month after his heroics, James was celebrated by the NBA with a gold and diamond chain.

The chain to celebrate James was a collaborative effort between the Lakers and the NBA.

The chain is engraved with the title of the NBA's all-time leading scorer. It has the James logo available on his signature shoes as well as other symbolic details of the record.

Opening the top it has 'The Kid from Akron' slogan as well as the Lion head logo.

It also has the teams he has played for in his 20-year NBA career which included the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Miami Heat, and the Los Angeles Lakers.

The numbers 23 and six worn by James in his career are also well represented in the crusted section of the chain.

James is recovering from an injury to his foot suffered in the Lakers' loss to the Dallas Mavericks last month.

He is expected to be evaluated in three weeks as the Lakers push for a spot in the NBA western conference playoffs.
