‘Your victory is a moment of national pride’ - NOC celebrates Tobi Amusan for Diamond League win

After her recent win, the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) has showered encomium on Track and Field Queen Tobi Amusan.

Tobi Amusan’s performance at the Diamond League has attracted praise from the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), who were thrilled by her outstanding contributions to flying Nigeria’s flag high.

The 26-year-old won a third consecutive Diamond League trophy finishing with a season-best time of 12.33 seconds.

Tobi Amusan is an inspiration to countless young athletes

Despite the many challenges she has faced in recent times, Tobi Amusan's resilience powered her to victory, and this drew commendations from well-meaning Nigerians.

Habu Ahmed Gumel, President of the NOC in a message signed by its Public Relations Officer Tony Nezianya labelled Tobi Amusan as an inspiration to many young athletes in the country.

Tobi Amusan earned plaudit for her hardwork, dedication, and resilience that has helped her triumph even in the face of stiff opposition.

Tobi Amusan encouraged to do more

In his message, Habu Ahmed Gumel challenged Tobi Amusan to continue to maintain her standards in order to keep bringing laurels to Nigeria. 

He added that the success of the Women’s 100m Hurdle record holder is a moment of national pride that will always be cherished.

Despite her win at the Diamond League, Tobi Amusan is still enmeshed in controversy with the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU).

The AIU charged the Nigerian Hurdler for allegedly missing 3 whereabouts tests, of which a Disciplinary Committee cleared her of any wrongdoing.

However, the AIU has refused to accept the verdict of the Disciplinary Tribunal and now dragged Tobi Amusan to the Court of Arbitration of Sports (CAS).
