The world 400mH record holder was making her third Slam appearance as a racer in Philadelphia. This time, she stepped down from her trademark event to compete in the 100mH category.
Despite competing against established sprint hurdlers, McLaughlin-Levrone held her own as she finished fifth in a time of 12.70s - her second-best career performance in the event.

Jamaica's hurdling queen Ackera Nugent conveniently won the race in a headwind of 12.44s, far ahead of Tia Jones in 12.60s, and Magan Tapper was third in 12.66s.
After the race, as McLaughlin-Levrone was sharing moments and signing autographs with the fans, a teen girl dressed in her yellow prom dress showed up carrying the placard: "I skipped prom for you Sydney".
