Sub-10s King Akani Simbine humiliates stacked 100m field of Olympic champion Tebogo and Coleman to win Xiamen Diamond League
Racing in his second 100m race of the season, sprint legend Akani Simbine set the tracks blazing with a brilliant victory over Olympic champion Letsile Tebogo and Christian Coleman to win the men's 100m event at the Xiamen Diamond League.
From the gun blast, the South African star had a perfect start to keep up with the run of fast-starting Coleman for the first 50m. However, Simbine showed his class from the rest of the stacked field in the last half of the race, blazing to victory in another sub-10s run of 9.99s.

Australia's new sprint sensation Lachlan Kennedy was fourth in 10.18s, Emmanuel Eseme fifth in 10.19s, and surprisingly Botswana's Olympic hero Tebogo finished sixth in 10.20s.

Simbine's impressive victory in Xiamen is his second consecutive of the season, following his exceptional 2025 opener at the Botswana Grand Prix two weeks ago, where he clocked a world-leading 9.90s to break Usain Bolt and Asafa Powell's 100m record.
He is currently the world's most in-form sprinter this season, as he's unbeaten and the only man to go below the sub-10s mark on multiple occasions this year, making vital statements of his intentions ahead of the World Championships in Tokyo this summer.
