ATHLETICS Sheila Chepkirui, Roncer Kipkorir claim records after winning Paris Half Marathon

Another Kenyan, Marion Kibor settled for second place in 1:06:45 as Ethiopia’s Betelihem Yemer sealed the podium in 1:06:46.

Kenyan duo of Sheila Chepkirui and Roncer Kipkorir are the winners of the women’s and men’s races respectively in the 2023 Paris Half Marathon held on Sunday, March 5.

Chepkirui, who is also the winner of the 2022 Berlin Half Marathon, crossed the finish line in 1:06:01 to smash compatriots Pauline Njeri’s course record of 1:07:55.

Another Kenyan, Marion Kibor settled for second place in 1:06:45 as Ethiopia’s Betelihem Yemer sealed the podium in 1:06:46.

In the men’s category, Kipkorir obliterated a strong field of athletes to cut the tape in a new course record of 59:38 ahead of Josphat Chumo who clocked 59:33. Jimmy Grassier of France took third place in 59:55.

Meanwhile, Isaac Kipkemboi and Dorcas Tuitoek have scooped big wins at the Roma Ostia Half Marathon after clocking 59:17 and 1:06:21 respectively in the men’s and women’s races.

In the women’s race, Lonah Salpeter took second place in 1:06:56 as another Kenyan, Magdalene Masai placed third in 1:07:07.

In the men’s category, Wesley Kimutai of Kenya and Ethiopia’s Tadesetakele Bikila sealed the podium to finish second and third in respective times of 59:47 and 59:56.
