Nigeria's Tobi Amusan wants to become a double World Record holder, and she wants to achieve them this season ahead of the Paris Olympic Games.

World Record (WR) holder outdoor, Tobi Amusan has her goals set on becoming the indoor WR holder after her outstanding start to the 2024 season.

Amusan, who has competed in just two meets to begin her 2024 season, blazed to African Record (AR) times on both occasions, thus strengthening her position as one of the world's best hurdlers in history.

Tobi Amusan has been in impeccable form since the 2024 season started

Running in her first competition of the 2024 season at the World Athletics Indoor Tour in Astana, the 2022 world champion ran a blistering 7.77s for an exceptional win, thus smashing Glory Alozie's 25-year-old AR of 7.82s in the process.

Just a week later at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston, she lowered her record to a super fast 7.75s for a second-place finish in a star-studded race led by Tia Jones, who clocked a new Personal Best (PB) of 7.72s.

These two performances not only explained her current fantastic form, but they placed her in a solid position to challenge the 60m Hurdles World Record of 7.68s and go for the world title at the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow.

Amusan has now confirmed that she has one of her goals set on breaking the 60mH WR and becoming a double World Record holder in the hurdles.

"Honestly, yeah," she revealed in a post-race interview with Citius Mag at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston.

Tobi Amusan couldn't contain her joy after her epic win in Astana

"Knowing that the first five hurdles is not my forte, and you know we're working really hard to get that part of my race secured, and with the way things are going, why not? I don't know but, being a WR holder sounds great."

The 26-year-old became Nigeria's first athletics WR holder and outdoor world champion. If she continues with the pace she's started the season, then she has a great chance of accomplishing this goal.
