Popularly called 'Aso Ebi' girls' in Nigerian local parlance - the generalised name for bridesmaids with matching outfits, Thomas didn't falter in her embodiment of the culture, wearing the Nigerian Yoruba attire.

Who are the 'Aso Ebi' girls in Nigerian weddings?

Aso Ebi girls in Nigerian weddings are a group of close friends and family who wear matching outfits made from a specific fabric to show unity and support for the bride.

This tradition comes from the Yoruba phrase "aso ebi" meaning "family cloth," is a vibrant visual statement that often designates a special group, such as the bridal party, and is a key part of Nigerian wedding celebrations.

The Aso Ebi girls wear the same fabric to show their close relationship and support for the bride and groom, and wearing the same outfit distinguishes them as a specific group, such as the bridal party or close family, amidst the other guests.

They often assist with wedding-related tasks, such as guiding guests, helping to collect money for the couple, and being prepared with items like fans for guests.
