BBC broadcaster singles out Super Eagles star for praise after Nigeria vs Tanzania.
The plaudits continue to roll in for Alex Iwobi's performance in Nigeria's AFCON 2025 2–1 win against Tanzania, with a BBC journalist dubbing him the driving force of the team.
Iwobi notched two assists on the day, setting up Semi Ajayi and Ademola Lookman. He also kept things ticking in midfield and helped Nigeria advance play centrally.

High praise for Iwobi
Pulse Sports gave the Fulham star the highest individual rating from the game against the Taifa Stars, underscoring his immense influence, despite Ajayi winning the official CAF Man of the Match Award.
BBC World Service’s broadcaster, John Bennett, appeared to share the sentiments, as he showered praise on the former Arsenal man for his performance against Tanzania, adding that it was Iwobi, not Osimhen, who was responsible for driving the team forward.
“Alex Iwobi always impresses me in Nigeria’s team,” he tweeted. “He was popping up all over the pitch last night, constantly available for a pass and always keeping things moving.
“Victor Osimhen can be the difference maker for Nigeria at #AFCON2025, but it’s Iwobi who drives them forward.”
