Super Falcons star Deborah Abiodun gives back to children at National stadium
Fresh from winning the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations and receiving a $100,000 reward from President Tinubu, Super Falcons midfielder Deborah Abiodun is proving that true greatness goes beyond the pitch.
In a heartwarming show of generosity, the 21-year-old star surprised children at the Lagos National Stadium in Surulere with gifts of sporting kits, footballs, and cash.
Who is Deborah Abiodun?
Born and raised in Ibadan, Abiodun’s journey took her from Rivers Angels FC in Port Harcourt to the University of Pittsburgh in the USA, and now to Dallas Trinity FC on loan from Washington Spirit in the Women’s Super League.
Despite her rising fame, Abiodun remains grounded. During a visit to SportsCity, she randomly blessed kids she encountered, from young boys playing barefoot in the stadium parking lot to a banana hawker, whose entire stock she bought at double the price.
“They Smile, I smile, We Smile ☺️❤️ More than privileged to be able to do this, thankful to God Always,” she posted on X
What Deborah Abiodun said
Among the gifts handed out were shin guards, socks, and footballs, alongside heartfelt words of encouragement.
“Always play safe. Listen to your mummy and daddy at home. Make sure you focus on your school as well. God is going to bless you all, and you are going to come back to give things to people who do not have.
"I know, by God’s grace, all of you will be great people — like Victor Osimhen, Victor Boniface, future Messi, future Kante, and future Agba Baller. Amen," ,” she told the children via sports247.
