Faith Kipyegon Confirms Monaco Return to Run New Distance After Winning 10km Debut
Just two days after making a winning 10km debut in Monaco, Faith Kipyegon has confirmed that she will be returning to the city again this year.
This is after the Monaco Diamond League confirmed the three-time Olympics champion as its headline act in the meeting set for Friday, July 10.
The decorated athlete is set to compete in a highly anticipated 3,000m race at the Stade Louis-II.
At 32, Kipyegon continues to push the boundaries of middle-distance running. The four-time world 1,500m champion, who also holds world records in the 1500m and the Mile, showcased her remarkable range by making her road racing debut in the Principality at the Monaco Run Gramaglia on Sunday.
She clocked an impressive 29:47 in her first-ever 10km race, immediately ranking her among the fastest women in history over the distance.
Why Monaco is Special for Kipyegon
The Monaco track holds a special place in Kipyegon's career. It was at the Stade Louis-II during the 2023 Herculis meeting that she delivered a historic performance, shattering the world record in the Mile and creating a lasting legacy at the venue.
For the 2026 event, Kipyegon will turn her attention to the 3,000m. She enters the competition with a formidable personal best of 8:07.04, a time she set at the 2025 Diamond League meeting in Silesia, which establishes her as a top contender.
Her entry underscores her ambition to excel at one of the premier events on the international athletics circuit.
Kipyegon's early confirmation signals that the 2026 Meeting Herculis EBS is poised to deliver another year of world-class competition. On July 10, Monaco will once again play host to one of the greatest athletes in the history of modern middle-distance running.
