Ons Jabeur makes bold claim of stopping the dominance of Elena Rybakina and Aryna Sabalenka in the clay court season.

Africa's No.1 women's tennis player Ons Jabeur hopes to stop the dominance of Elena Rybakina and Aryna Sabalenka this season.

The Tunisian, who has had a rough start to the 2023 year after an outstanding 2022 season, hopes to be back at her best in the upcoming weeks as the clay court season approaches.

Jabeur is one of the players that defends the most points in the clay court tournaments in Europe. Last year, she reached the final of the Charleston Open and Rome, as well as won the Madrid Open.

Therefore, if she fails to defend those points, she faces the possibility of dropping further in the rankings.

The two-time Grand Slam finalist is aware of this, and with top women's players in Iga Swiatek, Sabalenka, and Rybakina in the best form of their lives, Jabeur believes she can upset the rank.

“Elena won Wimbledon last year. Aryna struggled a bit last year but she regained her confidence.”

“Iga is Iga. I think they have a very powerful game, so that’s why it’s great to see them doing amazing. I think it’s great motivation for all of us. I know what great players they are and I think it’s fun to challenge them a bit," Jabeur added.

"I have a completely different game from them, so maybe it’s time that I make trouble for them a little bit."

Jabeur hasn't been in her best form since her surgery after the Australian Open. At the ongoing Miami Open, she was knocked out in the first round and lost in the second round of Indian Wells.
