Israel Adesanya displays excellent sportsmanship by writing a sincere letter to his competitor Alex Pereira.

Israel Adesanya, the middleweight champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), posted a moving message on social media to Brazilian mixed martial artist Alex Pereira, a rival in combat sports.

'The Last Stylebender' posted a video of himself and 'Poatan' hugging following their recent mixed martial arts rematch at UFC 287.

In his four-fight combat sports arc with the Brazilian-Tupi fighter, Adesanya sought redemption.

The Nigerian-born Kiwi made a stunning return by knocking out Alex Pereira in the second round at UFC 287 after losing two fights in kickboxing and one in MMA.

The message by Adesanya to Pereira said, "I love this game. Nothing compares on this planet, in this life than putting it all on the line.

"One shot, the whole world watching…waiting…then BOOM!! 🤯 HISSTORY.

"Our individual legends will always be intertwined because of the stories we’ve told with our beautiful violence.

"I’m grateful we have this rivalry, I’m grateful he beat me. It forced me to grow, made me better.

"Now I have done the same for him, the gift that keeps on giving…ass whoopings 😂😅.

"Shoutout to the Warrior from Brazil Alex “Poatan” Pereira!"

Adesanya has promised to team up with Pereira in Brazil later this year as they continue to develop a relationship.

Former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker and Dricus Du Plessis will square off at UFC 290 in July, according to a statement from UFC president Dana White.

Whittaker and Du Plessis will fight on July 8 in Las Vegas, according to White, and the victor will go on to face 185-pound champion Israel Adesanya later in the year.
