Victor Osimhen is facing an uphill battle in the Turkish Super Lig Golden Boot race after falling six goals behind compatriot Paul Onuachu following this weekend's action.

Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen netted in his side's 3-0 away victory over Rizespor on Sunday, scoring in the 73rd minute to help the league leaders extend their advantage at the top of the table to six points.

However, Osimhen's ninth league goal of the season in 15 appearances pales in comparison to the blistering form of his Super Eagles teammate.

Onuachu, who claimed the Baller of the Week Award, produced another match-winning performance for Trabzonspor on Saturday with a brace in their 3-0 demolition of Samsunspor.

The towering striker opened the scoring with a trademark header in the 23rd minute before sealing the victory with an 81st-minute finish.

The double takes the giant forward's tally to an impressive 15 goals and one assist in just 18 matches this season, establishing him as one of the most prolific strikers in European football and the clear frontrunner for the Turkish Super Lig's top scorer award.

While both Nigerian internationals shone at AFCON 2025, it is Onuachu who has translated that form more effectively in club football, averaging a goal every 1.2 games compared to Osimhen's rate of one every 1.67 matches. The statistics highlight the Trabzonspor man's remarkable consistency and clinical finishing in front of goal.

Osimhen, who also has one assist to his name this season, will need a remarkable run of form to close the six-goal gap on his international colleague as the season progresses.

The 27-year-old and his Gala teammates now switch attention to Eyuspor on Friday, while Onuachu and Trabzonspor will have their hands full against second-placed Fenerbahce 24 hours later.
