Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu has named former Arsenal forwards Nwankwo Kanu and Emmanuel Adebayor as his role models in football.

Onuachu has been in excellent form for Turkish club Trabzonspor since his transfer from Southampton.

He took his form to the Africa Cup of Nations, scoring the opening goal in Nigeria's final group stage victory over Uganda.

As the team prepares for a Round of 16 clash against Mozambique, the towering forward shared insights into his inspirations.

Speaking to Oga Nla Media, Onuachu explained that while he has drawn inspiration from many players, Kanu and Adebayor stand out.

"I like Kanu and Emmanuel Adebayor," he stated. "I have quite a few, but these are the ones I can remember now."

The 31-year-old also commented on the camaraderie within the Super Eagles squad, noting the close relationships he has with several teammates.

"I would say everyone, but everybody has their group," Onuachu revealed. "I think the people I speak to most are my roommate Chidozie (Awaziem), Francis Uzoho, Raphael Onyedika, and Frank, but I probably talk to everyone."

He also identified defender Bruno Onyeamachi as one of the squad's most humorous players. "The one I am closer to that is very funny is Bruno Onyeamachi. People don't see or hear him, but I would say it's him," he added.

Meanwhile, the Super Eagles are conducting closed-door training sessions to finalise their strategy for the upcoming knockout match.
