Bayern Munich and Germany star Jamal Musiala has come to the defence of Gianluigi Donnarumma despite his devastating injury

Jamal Musiala has chosen empathy over accusation following the horrific injury that ruled him out of action for several months.

The Bayern Munich star, who fractured his fibula and dislocated his ankle in a collision with Italy and PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma during the Club World Cup, insists there is “no one to blame” despite Bayern teammate Manuel Neuer publicly blaming the Italian shot-stopper.

“It’s nice to see how the football world comes together in a time like this,” he said. Musiala underwent surgery on Tuesday in Munich and is expected to be sidelined for several months.

Despite the severity of the injury, sustained while chasing a loose ball near the byline and being caught unintentionally by Donnarumma, Musiala refused to assign blame, saying, “There’s no one to blame for this. Situations like these happen.”

His response stood in contrast to Bayern captain Neuer’s reaction, who had pointed fingers at Donnarumma, while PSG head coach Luis Enrique backed his goalkeeper, revealing that the Italian was “devastated” by the incident.

Neuer-Donnarumma tension rises, but Musiala opts for unity

While tension brews between club veterans and opposing players, Musiala chooses to remain calm and show emotional maturity.

Instead of adding fuel to the fire, he called for understanding, even as replays showed a visibly shaken Donnarumma after the incident. Musiala cried out in pain before being stretchered off and flown to Germany for surgery.

As he begins rehabilitation, Musiala remains focused on healing, adding, “Now I'm just going to use the next period of time to build up my strength and positivity again.”
