Drama in Turkey — Super Eagles striker Onuachu scores again, but heartbreak strikes Trabzonspor
Paul Onuachu scored again to extend his lead over Victor Osimhen in the Golden Boot race, but a late Alanyaspor goal denied Trabzonspor all three points.
He then secured his second goal early in the second half, converting an assist from Mustafa Eskihellac.
Onuachu speaks on team performance
Despite his personal achievement, Onuachu was quick to focus on the collective effort. "It feels good to score 11 goals, but the most important thing is to win," he stated in a post-match interview.
Reflecting on the game, he added, "We started the match a little slowly. We woke up after conceding the goal. The team showed a good fight today. After conceding, we put our own game on display."
The striker praised the unity within the squad, highlighting the strong bond among the players. "This team has shown that it can achieve great things.
“I am very happy for the team. We are a family," Onuachu said. "When my teammates score a goal, I am as happy as if it was my own. The whole team is doing a good job."
The victory keeps Trabzonspor firmly in the title race, sitting third in the league standings. With Onuachu contributing 11 of the team's 25 goals this season, his form will be vital as they continue their campaign for the championship.
