Milos Kerkez's father, Sebastijan, has revealed other details about the 21-year-old's breakout Premier League season.

Kerkez is on the verge of a move from Bournemouth to Liverpool, with a €45 million transfer now heavily rumoured and expected to be confirmed soon.

The fullback's career has taken him from Győr and AC Milan to AZ Alkmaar, where he made his name. He then moved to Bournemouth, quickly becoming one of the Premier League's top left-backs.

Speaking ahead of Kerkez's move to Liverpool, the full back's father revealed, as reported by Sportal, "Liverpool is the only option for us. We're not going anywhere else and won't negotiate with other clubs.

"Personal terms are agreed; we just need to iron out a few details, but it's essentially a done deal. Richard Hughes brought us to Bournemouth. If he said we were going to India, we'd go to India," Sebastijan said on the Indirektno podcast.

Things could have been different had Milos Kerkez chosen Wolfsburg over Bournemouth in the summer of 2023. His father has now revealed how it all unfolded: "Our agency at the time called. They had someone in charge of Germany who set up a meeting with Wolfsburg, but two days before, Lee Dykes from Brentford called me."

"I told him it couldn't happen like that; we had a meeting in two days. I didn't particularly like him. The German guy had come to our house a few times, but I didn't get a good feeling about him; I could tell he was a bad person. Then I left for the airport, but Milos stayed home. Wolfsburg had the stadium decked out for me – Hungarian flags everywhere. But I saw through it."

"I let them talk for 15 minutes about how great Wolfsburg was, about their sponsor, and their 50,000 fans, but I wasn't interested. I went to get Milos and brought him there, even though he didn't want to go," Sebastijan Kerkez said. Ultimately, the deal fell apart because Wolfsburg's representatives showed them a lack of respect.

"When we got back there, they were speaking German, but we understood them. We sat down, and I said, 'You insulted us as soon as we walked in. Plus, you didn't even do your homework; you put up Hungarian flags, and we're Serbian.' That rat wouldn't even look me in the eye," Milos Kerkez's father continued.

"I'm proud that my son plays for Hungary; there's nothing controversial about that, even though I identify as Serbian everywhere," he added.
