Taiwo Awoniyi scores for Nottingham Forest as they hand West Ham another defeat

Nottingham Forest secured a solid win against West Ham, leaving David Moyes’ men in a frustrating situation.

Taiwo Awoniyi has failed to score in his last three games for Nottingham Forest and was looking to get back his scoring form.

The Super Eagles striker got his name on the score sheet as Nottingham Forest defeated West Ham 2-0.

As it happened 

Nottingham Forest made two changes from the side that was beaten 3-2 by Newcastle on Saturday with Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi leading the attack.

David Moyes made two changes to the West Ham side that were handed a heavy 6-0 defeat by Arsenal on Sunday. Michail Antonio makes his first start since November as Ben Johnson drops to the bench.

Nottingham Forest started the game brightly and were rewarded with the first goal of the game in the first half of injury time.

West Ham failed to clear the ball in the box and as it was sent back in, Taiwo Awoniyi controlled superbly before turning and finishing clinically with his goal ending the first half.

The second half kicked off and the home side continued from where they left off and tried to get the second goal of the game.

The game got tenser for West Ham who later saw their player receive his matching order after receiving his second yellow card.

Kalvin Phillips was shown his second yellow card of the game. Both bookings came in a matter of minutes, the second after he sent Morgan Gibbs-White flying with a late challenge.

Forest got the second goal to make it 2-0 when Callum Hudson-Odoi smashed home from inside the box for the second goal of the game and clinch the game for Forest.
