Taiwo Awoniyi will remain in the hearts of many Nottingham Forest fans in many years to come. The Nigerian striker has made unforgettable memories at City Ground on his debut season.

Taiwo Awoniyi has become a household name since he joined Nottingham Forest from Bundesliga side Union Berlin last summer.

The Nigerian international has stamped his authority in Forest’s attack and won the hearts of thousands of fans at the City Ground stadium.

For as long as Awoniyi remains a player at the club, there are three things he will be remembered for in many years to come.

1. He scored their first goal in topflight football after 23 years

Nottingham Forest returned to the Premier League in the 2022-23 season after picking up the final spot in the playoffs in the Championships.

Awoniyi then scored the Trick Tree’s first goal in their return to the Premier League in the 1-0 win over West Ham United at the City Ground. It was historic feat for the club.

2. He scored the goal that secured their status in the Premier League

Scoring important goals is part of making a player unforgettable to the club and Awoniyi did just that in Forest’s rare 1-0 over Arsenal.

Coming into the game with four goals in his last two matches, the Super Eagles striker continued from where he stopped as he netted the winner against the Gunners.

The goal did not only serve as the winning goal but more importantly a strike that would keep his team in the Premier League next season as well as getting more money for staying up the division.

3. He is their joint topscorer

With the way things are going, Awoniyi and Brenan Johnson who both have ten goals each will finish as the club’s topscorers.

Forest’s final game against Crystal Palace at Selhurst could be crucial to both strikers becoming the highest goalscorer if either of them find the back of the net.
