Chiamaka Nnadozie and her Nigeria Super Falcons teammates have received plenty of love from Nigerians after an impressive outing at the FIFAWWC.
Nnadozie responded after helping Nigeria book a place in the round of 16 at the ninth FIFAWWC in New Zealand and Australia.
The Paris-based shot-stopper put on another show as the Super Falcons picked up a valuable point against Ireland in their final group match to finish second.
Super Falcons vs Ireland
It was an interesting encounter between the Nigeria Falcons and the Irish Green Girls.
Ireland was already out of the competition but were hoping to be party spoilers for the Super Falcons who needed a point to secure their place.
After a rather cagey encounter between the two, Nigeria held on to secure the one point needed to reach the round of 16.
The Falcons finished behind leaders and Group B Australia, who thrashed Canada 4-0 to bounce back from their shock loss to Nigeria.
Nnadozie makes history
Goalkeeper, Nnadozie, proved to be one of Nigeria’s best performers so far at the FIFAWWC.
The 24-year-old ensured Ireland’s biggest strength, set pieces. Posed to problems for Nigeria en route a historic clean sheet.
It was her second clean in three games in Australia, making her the first African goalkeeper to keep two cleans in a single FIFAWWC tournament.
Sending love to Nigerians
Following her impressive displays, Nigerians have been praising the talented goalkeeper for her performance.
Nnadozie has now taken to her social media to respond to several goodwill messages and wishes from Nigerians.
“+1 clean sheet, Onto the next one (16) - Naija Una too much, thanks for the love and support,” the goalkeeper posted on her Twitter page.
