AC Milan secured a vital win against Lazio at the San Siro stadium in a push for the Serie A title.

Nigerian star Samuel Chukwueze has found it difficult to get into Stefano Pioli's team and was left out of the first eleven against Lazio

The Super Eagles star was brought in late as a substitute in the 2-0 win against Lazio with the forward making an attempt on goal in the closing stage of the game.

Christian Pulisic was on point to open the scoring for AC Milan in the first half before the second goal was added late in the second half from Noah Okafor.

As it happened

AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli made six changes to his side that defeated Cagliari 3-1 during the week with the rested players returning to the lineup.

Lazio's manager on the other hand made four changes to his side that defeated Torino 2-0 during the week with Samuel Chukwueze left on the bench.

The game started with both teams trying to avoid making mistakes and play it safe for the first 20 minutes of the game.

Both teams failed to create chances and get a goal in the first half as the referee blew the whistle for half-time.

Both teams came out for the second half with more urgency in their play but it was the home side who struck first.

In the 60th minute, Rafael Leao laid the ball off to Christian Pulisic, who shot from close range into the bottom left corner, leaving the goalkeeper helpless.

Lazio tried getting back into the game but their efforts were not good enough. However, it was AC Milan who scored the second goal late in the second half.

Rafael Leao was involved in this as he sprayed a pass out to Noah Okafor who did an easy job to slot the ball into an empty net.

The referee blew the final whistle as AC Milan secured an important win to go top of the Serie A table.
