Chelsea's new boss Liam Rosenior is already setting new milestones at Stamford Bridge
Chelsea produced a dramatic late turnaround at Stamford Bridge as Enzo Fernández’s stoppage-time strike sealed a stunning 3–2 victory over West Ham United.
The win marked a historic milestone for Liam Rosenior, as the Blues overturned a two-goal halftime deficit for the first time in a Premier League match.
First-half nightmare leaves Chelsea staring at defeat
The afternoon could hardly have started worse for Chelsea, who were second best throughout a bruising first half.
West Ham, battling for survival under Nuno Espírito Santo, played with aggression and purpose, unsettling the home side early on. Jarrod Bowen opened the scoring in the seventh minute with a clever curling effort that caught Robert Sánchez off guard, setting the tone for a frustrating half for the Blues.
Things went from bad to worse just before the break when Crysencio Summerville doubled the visitors’ lead in the 36th minute with a powerful, clinical finish.
Chelsea struggled to cope with West Ham’s intensity and organisation, and the home crowd made their displeasure known as the players were booed off at halftime, having been comprehensively outplayed in the opening 45 minutes.
Rosenior’s changes spark historic Stamford Bridge turnaround
Liam Rosenior’s halftime tweaks transformed the contest. Chelsea emerged with renewed urgency, and their pressure finally told in the 57th minute when João Pedro rose superbly to head home Wesley Fofana’s cross. The momentum swung decisively, with West Ham increasingly pinned back.
Marc Cucurella, outstanding throughout the second half, brought Chelsea level in the 70th minute, diving low to nod in after Liam Delap had struck the crossbar.
With the match heading towards a draw, Chelsea’s captain delivered the decisive moment. In the 92nd minute, Enzo Fernández pounced on a loose ball in the box and fired past Alphonse Areola to spark wild celebrations.
The result made history: on the 57th occasion Chelsea have trailed by two or more goals at halftime in the Premier League, this was the first time they came back to win.
