The 25-year-old was born in England but he has decided to finally play for the three-time African champions.

Fulham star Tosin Adarabioyo has finally decided to switch international allegiance to Nigeria’s Super Eagles after snubbing them for years.

Adarabioyo was born in England but he is eligible to play for the Super Eagles through his Nigerian parents.

Adarabioyo to represent Nigeria after years of chasing England

However, despite his eligibility and attempts to convince him to play for the three-time African champions, he has always harboured hopes of playing for England.

Tosin Adarabioyo only wanted England before deciding to play for Nigeria

The 25-year-old has played for England youth teams but he is yet to play for the Three Lions at the international level.

But after months of waiting, Adarabioyo has decided to give up his England dream to represent Nigeria.

According to multiple reports, the former Manchester City man has switched international allegiance and he is expected to receive a call-up for Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier later this month.

The reason for the sudden change in his decision is not known yet, but ex-Super Eagles coach Augustine Eguavoen may have played a role in it.

Also, the stiff competition in the heart of England’s defence may have forced the Fulham star to switch allegiance.

Tosin provides big boost for Peseiro

Nonetheless, the 25-year-old’s decision to change nationality is a big boost for Nigeria and Jose Peseiro.

The Portuguese tactician centre-back options for the doubleheader clash against Guinea-Bissau are limited, with the regular suspects injured and struggling for game time at their clubs.

Super Eagles vice-captain William Troost-Ekong who is certain to play the two games is currently out with a knee injury for Salernitana.

The Nigeria international has missed the Garnets' last two games due to injury. Meanwhile, his other Oyinbo’ partner, Leon Balogun has played just one game in the Championship for QPR this season.

Troost-Ekong is currently injured

Kenneth Omeruo, who also fills in at the back, has played just 12 times for Leganes in the Spanish second division.

Omeruo has not played a league game for Leganes since January 16 and has not completed 90 minutes of football since last December.

Awaziem, who also plays as a centre-back sometimes is currently out with a muscle injury for Hajduk Split.

However, Adarabioyo’s potential arrival will provide cover and give Peseiro options. The 25-year-old has 18 appearances for Fulham in all competitions this season, including 14 in the Premier League.
