Ademola Lookman's time at Atalanta looks to be coming to an ugly end, with the club set to punish the Super Eagles star

Atalanta is treading carefully but firmly in its dealings with Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman, whose absence from training has stretched to five consecutive days.

While negotiations over a potential move to Inter Milan continue, the club is making it clear that his recent conduct will not go unaddressed.

Atalanta weigh disciplinary measures as absence continues

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Atalanta has been summoning Lookman for training sessions at the Zingonia base, yet the forward has not been present.

His absence comes during a period when he is also undergoing a recovery program for a muscle injury, which the club would have preferred to monitor closely.

Despite this, his failure to report is classified as unexcused, setting the stage for sanctions. The Bergamo side has so far resisted escalating the matter publicly, opting instead for a measured approach while transfer talks remain active.

However, internally, they are reportedly preparing a response in line with club policy on player discipline.

Fines and salary cuts on the horizon

While no formal penalties have been enforced yet, Atalanta plans to issue a substantial fine to Lookman and implement salary deductions for every day he has been absent without permission.

These financial measures are expected to be calculated and confirmed at the end of August, coinciding with the club’s monthly financial review.

Sources close to the club suggest that patience is wearing thin, especially with the Serie A season approaching.

The message from Atalanta is straightforward: Lookman remains their player, and professional obligations must be met until any transfer is finalised. The next few weeks will be crucial in determining whether the dispute is resolved through negotiations or escalates further.
