Victor Wanyama went for pre-season in Tucson hoping to regain his berth in the squad.

Former Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama has received commendable praise from CF Montreal's new coach Laurent Courtois for his impressive performance in the team's preseason activities.

The 32-year-old midfielder, who experienced a challenging phase under the previous coach Hernan Losada, has shown a significant resurgence capturing the attention of Courtois.

Under Losada's tenure, Wanyama found himself sidelined, often missing from the starting lineup in crucial games.

However, the arrival of Laurent Courtois seems to have revitalized the Kenyan international's career at Montreal.

Courtois, a former player himself, took over the reins at CF Montreal at the beginning of the month, succeeding Losada who was dismissed after the team failed to make the playoffs.

Speaking about Wanyama, Courtois expressed admiration for the midfielder's commitment and attitude, both on and off the pitch.

“He has been coached by some of the best like Mauricio Pochettino and Jose Mourinho, and yet, his humility and professionalism are exemplary,” Courtois remarked, as per Globe and Mail.

“His approach to the game and his willingness to support the team, despite his vast experience, is truly a lesson in humility.”

Wanyama's recent performances, especially during the preseason, have been noteworthy.

His crucial goal against MLS Eastern rivals Minnesota last Saturday, where he scored four minutes before the game's conclusion, was a highlight, demonstrating his vital role in the team.

Courtois, who took over the reins at CF Montreal after two successful seasons with Columbus Crew 2, is tasked with steering the team back to winning ways after they missed the playoffs under the previous management.

The team is currently focusing on their pre-season training at home until February 4 after which they will head to Florida to conclude their preparations.
