After four matches, Bendel Insurance and Rivers United lead in Groups A and B.

Four Nigeria Premier Football League managers, including Rivers United's 2021/22 title-winning coach Stanley Eguma, have been shortlisted by the League Bloggers Awards (LBA) for the NPFL Coach of the Month honour for January.

This comes following an impressive start to the 2023 season that sees the defending champions sit at the top of Group B.

LBA announced the nominated coaches on Tuesday, upon completion of the January 2023 schedule that saw all teams in the NPFL, play four matches each.

Nominated coaches for the January award

Mohammed Baba Ganaru (Lobi Stars)

After losing narrowly at Rivers United in the first game of the season, Baba Ganaru's side proceeded to win away at Abia Warriors, and defeat Rangers and Bayelsa United at home.

Lobi Stars also kept a clean sheet in their three wins.

Stanley Eguma (Rivers United)

The defending champions completed January unbeaten in their four matches. They secured home victories against Lobi Stars and Niger Tornadoes way at Dakkada and drew away at Sunshine.

Rivers United lead Group B with 10 points.

Monday Odigie (Bendel Insurance)

Odigie's Bendel Insurance were also unbeaten in four matches, as they won home and two away matches. They also kept clean sheets in two of the four matches, including away at Kwara United.

They most recently, defeated Remo Stars 3-0 to go to the top of Group A.

Daniel Ogunmodede (Remo Stars)

Ogunmodede's Remo Stars started their season on a good note, winning at home, before going away to defeat Gombe United. They also secured their third win of the season by stunning Shooting Stars in the South West derby.

Their only defeat was against Bendel Insurance, who ended their run of three games without conceding.
