Nigeria's Falconets pummel Togo in another big win in WAFU championship, off to semifinal

The win puts Nigeria firmly at the top of Group B with six points and a thirteen-goal difference.

Nigeria's U-20 girls are through to the semifinal of the 2023 WAFU U-20 Women`s championship after defeating Togo 6-0 in their second group game of the competition.

The Falconets who had recorded an almost similar scoreline in their opening game of the tournament are now through to the last four with a group game to spare.

Nigeria's U20 girls start strong

Heading to the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, the Falconets were in high spirits, following a 7-0 rout of Niger Republic in their first game.

They started Wednesday's encounter in an almost similar fashion, grabbing their first in the 11th minute thanks to Amina Bello.

Shortly after Flourish Sebastine, made it 2-0 for Nigeria, with Esther Chinemerem making it three from the spot on the half-hour mark.

Sebastine grabs brace for 6-0 win

The second half saw the Falconets come back even stronger with Amina Bello adding her name to the scoresheet in the 57th minute, and Opeyemi Ajakaye adding a fifth, two minutes later.

With fourteen minutes left on the clock, the Falconets wrapped up the game in style, Sebastine, grabbing her second of the game.

The win puts Nigeria firmly at the top of Group B with six points and a thirteen-goal difference. The competition will see Chris Danjuma's side take on Burkina Faso in their final group game.
