A Nigerian defender, touted as the latest "oyinbo wall'' Gabriel Osho had a nightmarish return to the pitch after an injury, conceding five goals in the match.

Super Eagles defender Gabriel Osho's long-awaited return from injury ended in misery as his Luton Town side were demolished 5-1 by a rampant Brentford at Kenilworth Road on Saturday.

Osho, dubbed the latest 'Oyinbo Wall' after earning his first-ever Nigeria call-up last month, was unable to stem the tide as Frank Onyeka's Brentford ran riot, dealing a massive blow to Luton's hopes of avoiding relegation from the Premier League.

The 25-year-old centre-back, who had been sidelined since March 9, played the full 90 minutes but could not prevent the free-scoring Bees from breaching the Hatters' backline on five separate occasions.

Osho had been forced to withdraw from the Super Eagles squad for their recent friendlies against Ghana and Mali in Morocco due to injury, but his return to action failed to provide the defensive solidity Luton craved.

With the Hatters hovering perilously above the drop zone, Osho's performance will be a cause for concern for both club and country as he aims to cement his place in the Super Eagles ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

For Brentford, the emphatic victory will taste even sweeter, even though their Nigerian midfielder Onyeka watched the dismantling of the 'Oyinbo Wall' and his Hatters teammates from the bench.
