Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk charged by FA after Newcastle red card

How it happened
Following Newcastle's 1-0 loss to Manchester City on Saturday, August 19, Lascelles went out that night with his younger brother and a friend.
At 4 a.m. the next morning, violence broke out with a group of six to eight unidentified individuals.

According to reports from Daily Mail, one of the males elbowed Lascelles' 19-year-old brother in the throat during an "unproven attack," which prompted the defender to intervene.
He made his move by pushing one of the fighters to the ground while trying to calm everyone down.
He was hit in the face and injured his ear and retaliated by punching the guy who made a move on him and hurt his ear.
During the heated altercation that followed Lascelles leaving nightclub Chinawhite, the group allegedly threatened to shoot Lascelles.
His friend received a kick to the head and was hurt before being rushed to the hospital after the intervention of the police
According to Mail Sport, the club is pleased that the defender used self-defence during the incident on August 20 even if they are still investigating the circumstances.
The Police have reaffirmed that they are looking into the event and have issued a plea for more details.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said, “Shortly after 4 am on Sunday, August 20, we received a report of disorder involving a number of people on Westgate Road, in Newcastle city centre.
“Officers attended, however, it is believed that those involved had already left the scene before they arrived.
