Napoli lost to Fiorentina at Diego Maradona’s stadium making it two losses in the space of one week for Rudi Garcia's side.

Rudi Garcia's team was coming from the back of a defeat during the week against Real Madrid in the Champions League.

They got thumped by Fiorentina 3-1, which leaves them seven points off the league leaders AC Milan.

Fiorentina scored the first goal through Josip Brekalo before Napoli equalised from the penalty spot by Victor Osimhen.

The away side then scored two goals in the second half from Giacomo Bonaventura and Nicolas Gonzalez to clinch the win.

As it happened

Rudi Garcia, Napoli's manager, stuck with the same eleven that lost at home to Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League with Osimhen leading the attack.

While Vincenzo Italiano, Fiorentina manager made seven changes to his side that played a 2-2 draw against Ferencvaros in the UEFA Europa League.

The games started and it did not take long before Fiorentina took the lead. Josip Brekalo fires the rebound into the bottom right corner after the ball breaks to him in the box.

Napoli kept pushing for the equaliser and scored in injury time of the first half from the penalty spot.

Victor Osimhen was brought down in the penalty box by the Fiorentina goalkeeper in injury time of the first half.

He then wins the battle of wills and sends an unstoppable penalty past Pietro Terracciano into the right side of the goal, with the goal ending the first half.

The second half started and Fiorentina looked more dangerous in attack than the home team Napoli.

Their attack caused Napoli's defender much problem and one of those attacks led to their second goal of the game.

Giacomo Bonaventura was in the right place at the right time to get to the rebound inside the box and gleefully rifles the ball low inside the right post.

Fiorentina sealed the win when Nicolas Gonzalez showed good awareness inside the box as he latched on to a brilliant pass and fired a first-time shot into the top right corner.

The referee blew the whistle for full time as Napoli’s poor form continues, leaving them fifth on the Serie A table.
