The move also hinges on Ederson’s potential exit, with Galatasaray keen on offering the Brazilian a new home in Turkey.

City are now desperate for a safe pair of hands between the sticks after the shaky performance from James Trafford in the 2-0 defeat to Tottenhem.

After a clean sheet in his debut against Wolves, Trafford was hugely underwhelming at home to Spurs, raising questions about his long-term suitability as the club's first-choice.

Should Ederson leave, as is anticipated, Donnarumma will become first-choice between the sticks.
