Following every round of Ligue 1 fixtures, Pulse Sports presents the most impressive performers of the matchday.

Paris Saint Germain bounced back from two consecutive defeats with a much-needed win largely thanks to Lionel Messi’s first goal in over a month. Here are the other top performers of game week 30 in Ligue 1.

Goalkeeper

Gianluigi Donnarumma (Paris Saint Germain)

Messi might have inspired PSG from the front but Gianluigi Donnarumma held down the fort at the back with a brilliant performance.

The Italian helped PSG to a 2-0 win away at Nice with seven saves to keep their first clean sheet in the league since February and only the second in 2023.

Sergio Ramos (Paris Saint Germain)

A goal and a clean sheet for any centre-back is the holy grail but for Sergio Ramos, it is just another notch on a long and impressive list of career achievements as the Spaniard did this for fun in his prime years.

The importance of his last goal cannot be overstated as he headed home the second in a 2-0 win away at Nice in the 76thminute after connecting with a Lionel Messi corner kick to effectively put an end to OGC Nice’s spirited search for an equaliser.

Axel Disasi (Monaco)

Axel Disasi was part of a Monaco that gave away a 2-0 lead away at Nantes to draw 2-2 but his individual performance was too good to be ignored.

The French international defender scored the opening goal in a manner that any striker would be proud of, controlling a corner kick with his chest and then blasting home the finish into the roof of the net to open the scoring for Monaco in the 21st minute.

Facundo Medina (RC Lens)

Facundo Medina started as a left centre-back for Lens in a 2-1 win over Strasbourg but one would struggle to guess going by his stunning volley in that game.

Medina made great contact with a volley as the ball came to him in front of the Strasbourg box and he made no mistake to double Lens’ lead although Kevin Gameiro’s late great strike would later strip the defender and Lens’ of a deserved clean sheet.

Midfielders

Przemyslaw Frankowski (RC Lens)

Przemyslaw Frankowski helped Lens start on the front foot against Strasbourg with an early goal thanks to a neat finish from inside the box with his right foot in the 11th minute.

The 27-year-old left wingback was a constant source of worry for the opposition as he played two key passes while also completing 81% of his passes.

Jonathan Clauss (Marseille)

Marseille were held to a disappointing goalless draw by Lorient but Jonathan Clauss’s performance was sufficient enough to warm him a team of the weel berth.

The French right wingback completed 88% of his passes, Including one key pass while he also had three clearances and five tackles.

Johan Gastien (Clermont Foot)

35-year-old midfielder Johan Gastien scored a beautiful goal for Clermont Foot in a 2-0 win over Troyes,  curling home a shot from outside the box.

The veteran had a fantastic game, completing 90% of his passes, recording four tackles and hitting the woodwork once.

Pierre Lees Melou (Stade Brestois)

Another midfielder who had an excellent game was Pierre Lees Melou, the midfield controller who scored for Stade Brestois in a 1-1 draw against Stade Reims.

Lees Melou scored as early as the sixth minute to put the visitors in front and they remained in the lead until Folarin Balogun’s 91st-minute penalty equalised for Reims.

Corentin Tolisso (Lyon)

Corentin Tolisso scored what was arguably the goal of the week to equalise for Lyon on the hour mark, firing home a long-range strike after initially appearing to be preparing a cross.

The former Bayern star controlled the midfield in Lyon’s 3-1 win over Rennes with 110 touches (more than anyone else in the game) and completing all eight of his attempted long balls, winning 12 of 17 ground duels and making six tackles.

Forwards

Lionel Messi (Paris Saint Germain)

If he made the team just by virtue of being Lionel Messi no one would have batted an eye but the ‘GOAT’ continues to single-handedly alter the outcome of football matches at 35 years of age, just as he did against Nice.

Messi’s opening goal in the 26th minute after some good work by Nuno Mendes was his first for PSG since the fourth of March and he added an assist in the 76th minute for Sergio Ramos to make it 2-0 and clinch the club’s first win in three games.

Alexandre Lacazette (Lyon)

Lyon came from behind to win at home to Stade Rennes and Alexandre Lacazette technically scored the winning goal as he made it 2-1 in the 68th minute.

The third goal by Bradley Barcola only sealed a result Lacazette had earned with some quick awareness and smart finishing in tight angles.
