The Harambee Stars defender returned from injury as Estrela were held to a 1-1 draw by Vizela on Saturday.

Harambee Stars defender Johnstone Omurwa returned from injury and featured for 34 minutes as Estrela Amaradora were held by Vizela 1-1 in an Liga Portugal encounter played on Saturday night.

Omurwa, who had not featured in Estrela’s last four games, had been nursing an injury,  before he was declared fit to return to the team where he came on as a substitute.

He made nine out of 10 successful passes, made one clearance, won his only attempted ground duel and made one tackle.

Andre Luiz opened the scoring for Estrela in the seventh  minute when he got on the end of a pass by Jean Felipe, but Vizela equalised in the second half  through Samu.

Both sides would have to settle for a point in the end, which now puts Estrela ninth on 17 points midway through the season, which has been an impressive one considering they won promotion back to the top flight last summer.

When fit, Omurwa has been an integral part of Estrela’s defence.

He has predominantly featured on the right side of their defence, making 11 league appearances, nine of which have been starts.

He has made a combined 2.7 tackles and interceptions per 90 minutes, as well as made 4.5 ball recoveries per match. He wins 3.4 total duels a match.

Omurwa is also very active in possession. FB Ref puts him in the 92nd percentile for carries from the back, and in the 86th one for take ons, showing his willingness to launch attacks from the back.
