From tormenting Super Eagles’ Aina to becoming a Black Cat – Adingra makes surprise move
Ivorian star Simon Adingra, who tormented Nigeria’s Ola Aina in the AFCON 2023 final, has left his Premier League club to join Sunderland in a surprise transfer.
Naruto Changed Everything for Aina
Aina, known for his reliability on the pitch, told fans that his introduction to anime began with Dragon Ball Z thanks to his older brother.
“From young, my older brother, I would always watch Dragon Ball Z with him, so that's my first introduction into anime,” Aina explained.
He admitted that for years, he dismissed other anime as “rubbish,” saying, “Other than Dragon Ball Z, I thought anything else was rubbish, I’ll be honest.”
This firm stance changed after persistent recommendations from his younger brother, who urged him to watch Naruto, even claiming it was “probably better than Dragon Ball Z.”
Reluctant at first, Aina eventually decided to give the popular ninja anime a shot. The result? A complete turnaround.
“I watch Naruto [and it] turned my whole world upside down, crazy, crazy anime,” he confessed, visibly impressed.
A New Favourite?
Aina’s story shows a common experience among anime fans torn between two of the genre’s most celebrated series.
His open-mindedness, however, has led him to appreciate what Naruto brings to the table, even as it shakes up years of Dragon Ball Z loyalty.
The debate rages on, but for Ola Aina, Naruto has earned its place at the top, transforming what he once dismissed as “rubbish” into an anime revelation.
