Super Eagles defender Ola Aina reveals how watching Naruto changed his view on anime, admitting it “turned my whole world upside down” after years of loyalty to Dragon Ball Z.

Super Eagles defender Ola Aina has weighed in on the long-running anime rivalry between Naruto and Dragon Ball Z, revealing a dramatic shift in his loyalties after finally giving Naruto a chance.

Aina’s honest admission on Instagram has quickly sparked conversation among both football fans and anime enthusiasts.

Naruto Changed Everything for Aina

Aina, known for his reliability on the pitch, told fans that his introduction to anime began with Dragon Ball Z thanks to his older brother.

“From young, my older brother, I would always watch Dragon Ball Z with him, so that's my first introduction into anime,” Aina explained.

He admitted that for years, he dismissed other anime as “rubbish,” saying, “Other than Dragon Ball Z, I thought anything else was rubbish, I’ll be honest.”

This firm stance changed after persistent recommendations from his younger brother, who urged him to watch Naruto, even claiming it was “probably better than Dragon Ball Z.”

Reluctant at first, Aina eventually decided to give the popular ninja anime a shot. The result? A complete turnaround.

“I watch Naruto [and it] turned my whole world upside down, crazy, crazy anime,” he confessed, visibly impressed.

His open-mindedness, however, has led him to appreciate what Naruto brings to the table, even as it shakes up years of Dragon Ball Z loyalty.
