Frank Onyeka has opened up about being dropped from Super Eagles squad

Nigerian midfielder Frank Onyeka has expressed disappointment after being dropped from the Super Eagles' final 23-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.

Frank Onyeka wants to be a part of the Unity Cup Eagles.

Onyeka was initially included in the 39-man provisional squad but failed to make the cut for the final team.

What Onyeka said

"I was quite sad about it, but again, the coach knows best," Onyeka said in an interview with OmaSport TV via Complete sports.

"He knows what players he wants to use, but hopefully, in the next games, I'll be available. I'm always available and hopefully, I'll be with the team," he added.

The Super Eagles sit fourth in Group C, seven points behind leaders South Africa. With two crucial matches upcoming, Onyeka believes Nigeria still has a chance to qualify for the World Cup.

"I know we are in a difficult situation, but there's still a chance for us. We just need to win our next four games, and hopefully, we can qualify" he said.

Onyeka's next opportunity to represent the Super Eagles could come in the Unity Cup or an international friendly match against Russia.

The midfielder has had an impressive season, making 25 appearances in the Bundesliga and providing one assist.
