Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama has expressed confidence that Stanley Nwabali's rise as Nigeria's number-one goalkeeper will put an end to speculations about him cursing the national team.

Enyeama, a legend in African football, who earned 101 caps for Nigeria and led the team to victory in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, retired amidst controversy after a fallout with former coach Sunday Oliseh.

Enyeama's confidence in Nwabali's abilities reflects the hope for a bright future in Nigerian football, with the former goalkeeper convinced that Nwabali's success will overshadow any lingering doubts about his legacy.

Enyeama's Belief in Nwabali

Speaking to Lagos Talks FM, as reported by Afrik-Foot, Enyeama shared his optimism about Nwabali's impact on the team: "I think Stanley (Nwabali) came in at the right time; for a long time, we have been clamouring for a goalkeeper."

Addressing misconceptions about his alleged curse on the national team, Enyeama emphasized, "I didn’t curse the national team; if I had the power to do that, I could have currently changed the economic fortunes of Nigeria."

Nwabali's stellar performance during the 2023 AFCON tournament earned him praise, as Enyeama noted, "I pray he continues in this good form and ends all the talks about me cursing the national team or casting a spell on the national team."
