Leicester, who had been leading the Championship for most of the season, have only won one of their last six matches.

Leicester City's dream of returning to the Premier League right away hit a hurdle on Friday. They lost 1-0 to Bristol City.

Bristol City's Anis Mehmeti scored the only goal of the game with a powerful left-footed shot late in the match.

Leicester City have been league leaders for most of the season, but have only won one of their last six matches. This slump has seen them fall behind Leeds United in the race for the top spot.

Jamie Vardy, a key player in Leicester's surprise Premier League title win eight years ago, had two chances for the Foxes. However, Bristol City's goalkeeper, Max O'Leary, made excellent saves to deny him.

Leicester's struggles continued in early March as they suffered a third consecutive defeat, this time losing 2-1 to Queens Park Rangers. Meanwhile, their promotion rivals, Ipswich Town, secured a valuable 2-0 victory against Plymouth Argyle.

At the end of the season, only the top two teams get automatic promotion to the Premier League, while third to sixth-placed teams compete in playoffs for the remaining spot in the top league.
