Poland's campaign at EURO 2024 has been dealt a big blow as star striker Robert Lewandowski has been ruled out of the tournament opener against the Netherlands on Sunday due to a hamstring injury.
The Barcelona forward suffered a torn hamstring during Poland's recent 2-1 friendly victory over Turkey.

The Polish Football Association (PZPN) confirmed the injury and expressed their disappointment; they acknowledged that this update might affect their starting lineup, but they remain hopeful.
The PZPN has assured fans they will do everything in their power to get Lewandowski healthy and back on the pitch for their second group stage match against Austria.
"We examined three players who suffered injuries in the match against Turkey ... (defender) Pawel Dawidowicz suffered a pulled quadriceps thigh muscle," the Polish FA said in a statement on Tuesday.
"In the case of (striker) Karol Swiderski, an examination showed an ankle sprain without significant damage. Both players should return to full training within three to four days after the treatment.
"Lewandowski suffered a rupture of the biceps femoris muscle, which will exclude him from the first match of the tournament."
Poland's Euro campaign starts with a clash against the Netherlands in Group D, followed by Austria on June 21st. Their group stage concludes with a heavyweight matchup against France on June 25th.
