According to the former Blues midfielder, most of the groundwork was already completed last summer, meaning only minor steps are needed to seal the deal now.

"He wants to play for Chelsea," Mikel confidently declared, adding, "I know where we stopped in terms of the contract, I know where we are. It's an easy fix, because we've done all the hard work last summer."

Despite these claims, reports suggest Chelsea have cooled their interest. Nonetheless, Mikel’s comments have reignited hopes among fans who dream of seeing the 31-goal striker lighting up the Premier League in blue next season.

Salary demands and character doubts complicate the picture

However, Osimhen’s possible summer exit from Napoli on permanent terms is not that simple behind the scenes.

Transfer insiders David Ornstein and Fabrizio Romano have both reported that Osimhen’s €12 million annual net salary, plus a hefty €75 million release clause, has scared off major Premier League suitors, including Chelsea and Manchester United.

Moreover, concerns about the striker’s character have also been flagged, causing further hesitation from top English clubs.

With Saudi Arabian clubs reportedly willing to meet his financial terms, Osimhen’s future could lie away from Europe unless he lowers his demands.

For Chelsea, the door isn’t entirely closed, but unless a significant compromise is reached, Stamford Bridge may only remain a dream destination for the Nigerian star.
