What Simeone said
Speaking to the media before Atletico's La Liga match against Real Betis, Simeone emphasised that both the player and the team are in an adjustment period.
The Argentine coach explained that while Lookman learns Atletico's system, the coaching staff will be studying his attributes to deploy him in the most effective position.
"We'll try to get to know each other better," Simeone said, as reported by Fichajes. "He'll get to know the team, and we'll get to know his strengths. He has the vision to attack, and we'll work with the team to find the best approach."
In the cup tie, Lookman was partnered with Antoine Griezmann up front, filling in for the absent Julián Álvarez and Alexander Sørloth.
With both strikers expected to be available for the upcoming league fixture, Simeone will have more tactical flexibility as he continues to evaluate where Lookman fits best within his squad.
