The result marked a rare setback for the Bavarian giants, who were widely expected to claim all three points but were punished for an underwhelming performance.

What Kane said

Speaking to Bayern Munich’s official website after the match, the England captain conceded that the team failed to perform at their usual level, while also crediting Augsburg for their intensity.

He said, “We lacked a bit of energy. We weren’t so fluid with the ball and credit to them, they put more pressure on us and made it difficult.”

Despite the disappointing result, Kane stressed that Bayern’s focus remains firmly on securing the Bundesliga title and that the defeat should serve as a valuable reminder of the league’s competitiveness.

He continued, “Our aim is to win the Bundesliga title. As we saw today, if you’re not quite on it, if you’re not quite 100 per cent, you can be punished no matter who you play, whether you’re home or away.”

The former Tottenham Hotspur striker also dismissed any sense of panic, insisting the loss should be treated as a learning experience rather than a major setback.

“It should be a learning curve for us,” Kane added.

Bayern will now look to respond quickly as they continue their push for domestic success in the Bundesliga.
