With a crucial game against Noirs facing them, Eguma also noted that the Nigerian football league has helped the Pride of Rivers to prepare for the task ahead in the CAFCC.

United have won four of their first six games in the competition, with a draw and defeat in the other two.

Rivers United manager, Stanley Eguma believes the NPFL has prepared his Pride for the task ahead in the CAFCC.

According to the experienced tactician, the NPFL has been good for Rivers United as the competition in the league has kept his team on their toes.

"One good thing is that the league is putting us on our toes to compete in the continent," he added. "I think it's good for us at this stage. We are ready, battle ready."

United looking to start on a good note

With the Pride Nigeria's sole representative in the continent, Eguma and his players will be looking to make a mark in the competition.

Rivers United have won four of their last six matches.

United will however have to work really hard to get out of Group B which includes Ivorian giants, ASEC Mimosa, DC Motema Pembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo, and their hosts on Sunday, Noirs.

In terms of their form, Eguma's boys will be looking for a quick return to winning ways after a 2-1 defeat in Gombe against newly promoted side, Doma United, snapped their a run of six matches without defeat.
