Kenya had a tournament to forget at the Four Nations Tourney.

After a disastrous Four Nations Tournament that saw them fall to football minnows Mauritius, Harambee Stars have made a significant drop in the latest FIFA rankings released on Thursday 29 June.

Kenya have also been inactive in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers which garner higher points for positive results compared to International Friendlies, a situation that has seen them cede three places as they are now ranked 105 by FIFA.

Harambee Stars have been overtaken by Kazakhstan and Mauritania, Trinidad and Tobago who all had impressive qualifier results for their respective continental football tourneys.

In the Four Nations Tournament, Harambee Stars kickstarted their tournament with a 1-0 win over Pakistan but suffered a nightmare end following a 1-0 to hosts, Mauritius.

Kenya however missed the match against Djibouti after a traveling hitch saw them leave Nairobi late, however the game would not have counted on the rankings as it was scheduled before the June FIFA calendar.

Engin Firat’s side are still the second best CECAFA nation with neighbours Uganda still sitting at the summit of the region’s standings at 92nd with Tanzania completing the podium at 123rd.

Following an outstanding 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup where they finished fourth, Morocco are still the highest ranked African nation despite their narrow defeat to South Africa in the AFCON qualifiers having already qualified for the tournament.

Reigning African champions Senegal, Tunisia, Algeria, and Egypt complete the African top five with South Africa being the biggest climbers in continent having scaled four places as they are currently ranked 62nd.

In the overall standings, world champions Argentina still sit at the summit closely followed by France who finished as runners up in the last World Cup after previously being champions.

South American champions Brazil, England and Belgium complete the top five with Belgium, Croatia, Netherlands, Italy, Portugal, Spain making the top 10.
